U12 vs Shaldon
By Mark Pitman
Strong performance by the U12's
An early start for the U12's didn't stop them putting on a strong performance at Home vs Shaldon. Captain Harry Pitman lost the toss & Shaldon decided to bat on a freshly prepared pitch. Pitman opened up the bowling with a maiden and an ill judged run by the Shaldon openers resulted in a run out for big hitter Jack Parr.
The bowlers were rotated to make sure everybody was involved - Ben Kay was probably the pick of the bowlers with his left hand seam (1 for 7 off 3 overs). Shaldon's stand out player was Josh Couch who retired on 30. The only negative point in the fielding performance for our U12's was the number of wides (22) but with Shaldon only scoring 79 the odds were on Bovey to pull off a victory.
Sam Russell & Sam Harvey opened up the batting and soon had the Shaldon bowlers "under the pump". Russell retired on 30* and it was left to Luke Manuell to finish off the match in the 11th over.
Thanks to the umpires (Darren Harvey & Mark Couch) and to Pat & Brian for their hard work in getting the ground ready for a busy Sunday - it looked a treat!
